The above tours are 1.5hour, narrated nature tours of the beautiful cypress lined and moss draped Waccamaw River, Intracoastal Waterway and its creeks/swamps in search of wildlife.  Learn about the history of these rivers, the Waccamaw area and its wildlife along the untouched National Wildlife Refuge. There are large osprey nests along the river.

You may see:

  • Bird species including osprey, heron, eagles, egrets and wood storks 
  • Turtles and alligators 
  • Roaming peacocks greeting you along the drive to the dock along with sites of exotic animals (Fallow white deer, buffalo, zebra, sheep, emus) that are in the fields of the Waccatee Zoo

Visit our Education Station inside the small gift shop to see pictures & educational information on what you might see on your tour.  Also check out the handmade wreaths and hiking sticks made out of materials from the property.  Photographs of the river & wildlife may be purchased in the gift shop.

3. Osprey Photography Boat Tour:  Specialty Tour 1.5hrs

This is a 1.5-hour Osprey Photography boat tour on the Waccamaw River/Intracoastal Waterway with the purpose of providing photographers (novice & professional) with the opportunity to photograph osprey in their natural nesting habitat. There are several active nesting osprey along this river region of the untouched National Wildlife Refuge.  This is where they have and raise their young. So have your cameras ready because we are going to get you in close for some great photography shots of the active osprey and their young.  Of course, other wildlife just might cross our path along the way.  It is a wildlife photographer's dream photo opportunity whether you are a novice or professional. This tour is limited to 15 people to allow everyone to move about freely on the boat to take pictures.  The captain will maneuver the boat to allow all sides of boat to have the best shot possible.  We will travel by boat to several nest for photographing.        Note: Discounts will not apply to this specialty tour.

This is a beautiful and natural section of the Intracoastal Waterway/Waccamaw River and the fun of watching these family oriented birds in their natural nesting habitat on the river is fascinating.  It is a joy and trial to try to capture the perfect shot of the osprey catching its prey, feeding its young or carrying materials to the nest. This boat tour is a wonderful osprey photography adventure.  See Schedule for tour times and booking.  Minimum of 8 guest required for this tour to run.  This tour is not for children (12yrs and under).

Have a Continental Breakfast with your Nature & Wildlife River boat tour.  We will stop along the river to enjoy a small breakfast (such as bagels, muffins, fruit, juice & coffee) while we bask in the beauty of the river.

Cost:  Adult $25.95      Children (12yrs and under) $19.95
